On our spring family camping trip I took this 2+ hour exposure. It was an incredible night where I was able to see my way (no moon) around the campsite due to simple star light! I had experienced this before, but never so vividly. I opened the exposure on the camera and went to bed; the battery had a little over 2 hours left in it. After visiting Chaco Canyon earlier in the week and pondering the Anasazi’s amazing archeoastronomy; I wanted to get an illustration of what “north” (or perhaps more appropriately “center”) was before man had tapped into the earth’s magnetism!
